On 11th June 2024, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, declared a 21-day period of national mourning following the untimely death of the late Right Honourable Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, Former Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, and his accompanying eight (8) officials, commencing from Tuesday, 11th June, 2024, to Monday, 1st July, 2024. In this regard, the Mission opened a condolence book at its chancery to allow well-wishers to sign and send messages of condolences to the bereaved family and the Malawi Government.

Members of the Malawi community also signed the condolence book, demonstrating a significant turnout and solidarity with the people of Malawi.
