QATAR GOVERNMENT RESPONDS TO MALAWI GOVERNMENT’S APPEAL FOR HUMANITARIAN AID DUE TO THE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY TROPICAL CYCLONE FREDDY | ||
In response to Malawi Government’s appeal for immediate humanitarian aid towards the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Freddy in March, 2023, the Qatari Government, through its foreign assistance agency, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has donated humanitarian aid to the victims of the Cyclone on 25th May, 2023. The QFFD, in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent, has sent urgent humanitarian aid to Malawi in order to assist 2,000 affected families. The humanitarian aid included food baskets, cooking utensils, household hygiene kits, non-food items, and other humanitarian needs. This assistance was intended to address the immediate needs of the victims of the cyclone. Tropical Cyclone Freddy hit 15 districts in southern Malawi, displacing nearly 700,000 people and over 500 people lost their lives. |
